Reprise
The salty sands edge
to the calmed sea.
In the foreground an egret feeds.
White.
Long necked.
Nearness puts the bird to flight:
There is no threat.Back in the kitchen, soft,
A memory revisited;
A recalled gaze of a dead sister,
Pleads,
'Do not go'; scarred,
A tear bleeds I have felt death's sting.
My hope is secure.
Do not forsake me God.Back in the old country
Every room presents the One pierced
For my iniquity.
In whose death and ressurection
My hope rests.Silver, wood stone and bronze;
Solid, yet my Christ
was a man of flesh.
The futility of life broke
his heart.As my body fails;
Father, do not forsake me.I marvel at the certainty of a future
Spoken from aging lips.
Next year, next year...
My fear is untimely
Time is not mine.
Its reality is hard to grasp
A momentry gift.I am not able to say,
This is for the good.
God weeps with me now,
Redeems my past
Stands, waits, receives.Have mercy on me.
LORD hear my prayer.
